Opulent Art Deco
The homeowners dreamed of a primary suite that was both functional and beautiful. They envisioned a larger bedroom, his-and-hers closets, a spa-inspired bathroom and a spacious second-floor laundry room. The design would embody the elegance of Art Deco, with geometric shapes and polished finishes.
Primary Suite Addition, Mendota Heights
The extensive remodel and addition transformed the home’s layout. A bump-out provided extra square footage, while relocated walls and windows and reworked closet access maximized the reconfigured space.
The addition over the garage changed the roofline and provided space for a larger bedroom, a sitting area/reading nook and his-and-hers walk-in closets. The addition’s custom-designed front-facing window matches the style of the window over the front door for enhanced curb appeal.
Inside, the new walk-in closets have ample storage, custom organization features, glass-front cabinets and specialized lighting. Mirrored pocket doors can be closed to maintain a tidy look.
With the additional space, the owners were able to incorporate their “must-haves” in the bath — a seated vanity with an LED-lit mirror; docking/charging drawers; and a spacious shower with a built-in bench, full-length niche and tile ceiling.
The walls feature a European faux finish with a regal copper look. Ceramic backsplash tile in a herringbone pattern feels fresh and contemporary. A curved tub surround is perfect for products, decor, a book or a glass of wine.
Custom-crafted cabinetry doors and drawer fronts were meticulously designed and include intricate edge detailing.
The fully remodeled laundry room has an updated layout and an enlarged entry from the bathroom. Features include mirrored pocket doors, under-cabinet lighting, hang/dry space, built-in hampers and a convenient detergent pull-out.
