The whole-house refresh of a charming Minneapolis townhome began with a bold and colorful remodel of the basement, home office and two bathrooms. A few years later, the owners were ready to add the same playful energy to their kitchen. The graphic powder room and entry soon followed – including a statement-making floor treatment in the foyer.
Prior to remodeling, the narrow kitchen sat behind an angled two-tiered island that extended awkwardly into the living room. The kitchen was dark and dated. The new island is sleek and functional. It fits the space nicely, making it easier to access the kitchen on all sides. Its vivid lime green color is complemented by cool white cabinets, polished quartz countertops and sleek black fixtures. The kitchen feels modern and spacious and is better integrated with the rest of the home.
In the primary suite, white glass wall tile balances textured mosaic tile accents. The artist-designed glass sink has a concentric line pattern that gives the feeling of gentle waves. Electric in-floor heat is the ultimate luxury.
The foyer and powder room are the most recently completed projects. The powder room makes a statement with a black quartz floating vanity and graphic Picasso-inspired wallpaper.
Hexagon floor tiles start at the front door, continue into the powder room, then seamlessly transition into the wood flooring and down the hall. Bold black and white walls further personalize the space and are the perfect backdrop for the original artwork found throughout the home.
