When the homeowner’s parents were ready to downsize and sell the family home, the homeowner decided that, although the house hadn’t been updated in years, its location and potential were too good to pass up. Determining it would be their “forever home,” they wanted to customize it to fit both their present and future needs, focusing on classic finishes, one-level living and accessibility.
By combining the kitchen and formal dining room, the kitchen was doubled in size. The focal point is the massive 12-foot island with quartz countertop, specialized storage and island seating. White subway tile, Thermador appliances and a farmhouse sink mix modern and traditional.
In the master suite, space was reallocated to create a larger master bath with a free-standing soaking tub, double vanity and spacious walk-in shower.
The laundry/mud room was updated with items “recycled” from the kitchen – the sink, faucet and newly painted shelves and cabinets. Bench seating and hooks, an electronics charging station and a designated area for dog supplies keep the room neat and organized.
After an extensive whole-house remodel, the home is fully updated but maintains its original warmth and charm. See for yourself – when Plekkenpol Builders remodels your home, “The Difference is in the Details.”
